The Saforne Process
Crafted by Hand.
Built to Last.
A single Saforne piece takes over forty hours to complete. Here is why that matters.
In an age of fast fashion, we chose the slower path. Every cut, every stitch, every burnished edge is a deliberate act of care.
Our workshop sits in the heart of England, where leather craftsmanship has thrived for centuries. We work with the same tools and techniques that have been passed down through generations, because they produce results that no factory ever could.
Our Process
Six Steps to Perfection
Hide Selection
Each hide is hand picked from select tanneries across Europe. We inspect for grain consistency, natural markings and tensile strength. Only the top five percent of full grain hides make the cut.
Pattern and Cut
Master pattern cutters lay each template to maximise the strongest sections of every hide. Every cut is made by hand using brass handled shears, ensuring a level of precision that machines simply cannot replicate.
Stitching
We use saddle stitching, a technique where two needles pass through each hole from opposite sides. Unlike machine lockstitch, if one thread breaks the other holds. Built to outlast you.
Edge Finishing
Raw edges are burnished by hand using beeswax and a bone folder. This centuries old process seals and smooths the leather, producing a glossy, durable edge that only improves with age.
Hardware and Assembly
Solid brass fittings are hand riveted and polished. No plated zinc. No hollow buckles. Every clasp, ring and zipper pull is tested for ten thousand cycles before it reaches your hands.
Final Inspection
Every finished piece is inspected under natural light by our quality lead. We check alignment, stitch tension, hardware security and leather conditioning. If it does not pass, it does not ship.
Our Promise
What We Stand For
Made to Order
We do not mass produce. Each item is crafted only after you place your order, reducing waste and ensuring every piece receives individual attention.
Sustainable Materials
Our leather is a by product of the food industry. We use vegetable tanning, a chromium free process that has been trusted for over five thousand years.
Lifetime Guarantee
We stand behind every stitch. If a seam fails or hardware breaks under normal use, we will repair or replace it. No questions. No time limit.
